My Steps

Before we join Him, God reaches out to us right where we are.  He invites us to come home, sometimes over and over again.  When we do come back to God, we are greeted with open arms and a hug that makes everything else melt away.  We are home.

I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. (Ephesians 3:16-19 NLT)

God's Spirit empowers us to not only be home, but enjoy the benefits and blessings of home as well.  We've been given a power tool, but with no knowledge how to use it.  We need to be equipped with knowledge and skills that help us to walk by the Spirit.  Then, life starts to get simpler.

No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what He requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8 NLT)

We begin doing what is right, removing more and more battles with guilt and fear of being caught.  We begin to love mercy, carrying around less baggage as we forgive wrongs against us instantly.  We begin humbly walking with our God, walking by the Spirit and enjoying the resulting fruit.

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. (Colossians 2:6-7 NIV)

God's picture for our lives is much more amazing than we see.  Otherwise, why would we search so hard for alternatives?  God's design is much easier to enjoy than we realize. Otherwise why would we work so hard to achieve so much less?  Look for God's picture. Live out God's design.  Step by step let's walk together as we walk humbly with our God.

How about you?  Are you walking toward God?  Are you walking with God?  What's your next step?
