The Value of One

This Christmas season, we are going to look at the birth narrative in a little different way.  We've been talking about the path or process of walking together with God.  First, we check things out.  Then we get on the path as we start to see God and learn how to join God as well.  Once we are with God "in the garden," we start learning to walk by the Spirit and enjoy the benefits and blessings that come from the fruit of God's Spirit.  Finally, as we learn, we begin empowering one more because we not only have something spiritual, but physically practical to share with others as well.  This week, we are going to look at this process with Mary, the mother of Jesus.

In the sixth month of Elizabeth's pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. (Luke 1:26-27 NIV)

Today, I simply want us to see one point.  Mary is valuable in God's eyes.  She was knit together in her mother's womb by God (Psalm 139:13), crafted in the Image of God (Genesis 1:26-27), and when God looks at her He says "I do very good work" (Genesis 1:31).  Not only that, God wanted Mary to fulfill a special part of His Plan.  She would become the mother of God's Son.  Through her ministry, the world would receive salvation.

How about you?  Do you see that you are valuable in God's eyes?  Do you know that God knit you together, crafted you in God's Image, and considers you very good work?  Do you know that you have a special part of God's Plan?  How will the world be a better place through your ministry?
