"Next we turned and headed for the land of Bashan, where King Og and his entire army attacked us at Edrei. But the LORD told me, 'Do not be afraid of him, for I have given you victory over Og and his entire army, and I will give you all his land... (Deuteronomy 3:1-2 NLT)
Do you ever feel like you're under attack. Perhaps it's the pressure at work. Maybe your marriage is falling apart. Your parents are constantly looking over your shoulder and never trust you. Your kids are constantly parsing your words and accusing you of saying things different than you meant. It doesn't take long to find a place in life where we feel like we're under attack.
The best thing to remember in those circumstances is that God is far bigger than your enemy. No matter what the enemy throws at us to mess up our jobs, marriages, families or friendships, God can protect us from his attacks. The Israelites learned this first hand. God said don't be afraid of them, and they had no reason to be afraid. Their enemy was not a factor...no matter how big they were.
We had now conquered all the cities on the plateau and all Gilead and Bashan, as far as the towns of Salecah and Edrei, which were part of Og's kingdom in Bashan. (Deuteronomy 3:10 NLT)
