Don't Quit

I've had plenty of times over my lifetime where I've wanted to quit...on my job...on my friends...on my family...on God.  It's way too easy to end up there in my mind, unless I put things in place that remind me not to quit.

I accomplish this when I remember God.

Asking myself, "What does God thing about..." or "How would God want me to..." always helps me think about and approach a situation in a better, healthier way.  That's why I put things in place that regularly remind me of Him and His perspective on things.

How about you?

Try putting these things in place and see what a difference they make for you:
1) Weekly Worship - Find a church where you can enjoy being around a small to large crowd of people who want to draw near to God in worship.  Styles vary, so you can find one that works for you.  If you live in the Valparaiso, IN area, you can always join us at Life Bridge Christian Church or watch our services online to be encouraged in this way.

2) Mid-Week Pick-Me-Up - Meeting with friends who want to walk together with God can really help you get "over the hump" and through your week.  Life Bridge has a mid week service and community groups that help serve in this way.  Most churches have this available in your area as well.  Join a group.  Enjoy the friendships.  Dive into the Word.  Keep focused on Him.

3) Daily Reminders - Spending time with God each day is the ideal, because each day is a gift and each day has its own challenges.
  • Set aside some time to read Scripture, pray, or even be encouraged by others.
  • Listen to a Christian Radio Station  (like WITW 93.5 in Valparaiso).
  • Get reminders sent to your email each day. (Click Here to get my blog sent to you.)

The more the reminders - the better the mindset.
The Apostle, Paul, reminded us how important this is for all of us.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2 NIV)

When I reach the end of my life, I want to be able to look back and celebrate the life I've lived.  I want to look back and remember, "I did not quit."  Paul said it this way:

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day--and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. (2 Timothy 4:7-8 NIV)

I'm praying for you right now - that you will put the things in place that will encourage you in your walk each day, week, month and year of your life...and that you won't quit.

It's up to you, now.

So...will you quit?

  1. I've enjoyed reading your blogs and wanted to thank you for sharing and also thank you for being Gods instrument in spreading his word. It would be easy to just say forget it I quit, I quit everything. If its one thing I know it's that God never gives up on us, regardless of what we've done he still loves us, that's everlasting. So the next time it feels easy to just say I quit, I'm going to remember that God never quit me.

  2. Thank you for sharing your insights, Jessi. I certainly will hold on to the same thought...He never quit me.

I'm glad these blog posts were a blessing. I'm challenged by the Hebrews writer to share, because he said:

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near. (Hebrews 10:23-25 NLT)
