God is alive!

As I looked, I saw a great storm coming from the north, driving before it a huge cloud that flashed with lightning and shone with brilliant light. There was fire inside the cloud, and in the middle of the fire glowed something like gleaming amber. (Ezekiel 1:4 NLT)

God’s Word is living and active.  We saw two days ago that Daniel lived in accordance with God’s Word and Ezekiel said that God’s Word was sweet to taste.  The Apostle Paul said that God’s Word is living and active.

Above this surface was something that looked like a throne made of blue lapis lazuli. And on this throne high above was a figure whose appearance resembled a man. From what appeared to be His waist up, He looked like gleaming amber, flickering like a fire. And from His waist down, He looked like a burning flame, shining with splendor. All around Him was a glowing halo, like a rainbow shining in the clouds on a rainy day. This is what the glory of the LORD looked like to me. When I saw it, I fell face down on the ground, and I heard someone's voice speaking to me. (Ezekiel 1:26-28 NLT)

God’s Word is alive because God is alive.  Ezekiel saw a vision of God.  He described what the “glory of the LORD” looked like to him.  He wasn’t the only one.  Daniel saw a vision of the LORD as well.

I watched as thrones were put in place and the Ancient One sat down to judge. His clothing was as white as snow, His hair like purest wool. He sat on a fiery throne with wheels of blazing fire, and a river of fire was pouring out, flowing from His presence. Millions of angels ministered to Him; many millions stood to attend Him. Then the court began its session, and the books were opened. (Daniel 7:9-10 NLT)

In Daniel’s vision, we start to see the LORD being revealed to us as the King of Kings and the LORD of lords.  This “Ancient One” is the ultimate and final judge.  But that’s not all.  We also catch a glimpse of Jesus in this picture.

As my vision continued that night, I saw someone like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient One and was led into His presence. He was given authority, honor, and sovereignty over all the nations of the world, so that people of every race and nation and language would obey Him. His rule is eternal--it will never end. His kingdom will never be destroyed. (Daniel 7:13-14 NLT)

It’s kind of like the story of a little child drawing a picture and mom asking, “What are you drawing?”  “I’m drawing God,” said the child.  The mom, smiling and ready for the teachable moment says, “Well, honey, nobody knows what God looks like.”  Without hesitation the child says, “They will when I’m done.”

How about you?  Do you have a picture in your mind?  Does it match the pictures shared by Ezekiel and Daniel?  Do you see more to the picture?  Do you see that God is alive?
