Your legacy will outlive you.

When Jehoahaz died, he was buried in Samaria. Then his son Jehoash became the next king. (2 Kings 13:9 NLT)

Jehu did well.  He led Israel and Judah to stop worshipping Baal and to walk with the LORD.  His son, Jehoahaz waivered back and forth.  This lack of conviction was passed down to his son.

Jehoash son of Jehoahaz began to rule over Israel in the thirty-seventh year of King Joash's reign in Judah. He reigned in Samaria sixteen years. But he did what was evil in the LORD's sight. He refused to turn from the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had led Israel to commit. (2 Kings 13:10-11 NLT)

My children are all young adults now.  I find myself regularly reminded how quickly things can change from generation to generation.  A walk with the LORD in my generation does not guarantee a walk with the LORD in the next.  The most important work in my life is to pass on a desire to walk with the LORD from generation to generation – to point people toward life rather than death.

Then Elisha died and was buried. Groups of Moabite raiders used to invade the land each spring. Once when some Israelites were burying a man, they spied a band of these raiders. So they hastily threw the corpse into the tomb of Elisha and fled. But as soon as the body touched Elisha's bones, the dead man revived and jumped to his feet! (2 Kings 13:20-21 NLT)

How about you?  What do you spend your time building into people?  Does it bring death or life?  What will your legacy be?  Your legacy will outlive you.
