Real Courage Looks for God

When Joshua encountered the Angel of the LORD, he bowed down to worship.  That’s because he was really encountering God.  Real courage from God will point us to a walk with God.  That’s worth saying again.  Real courage from God will point us to a walk with God.  We cannot walk with God unless we know where God is.  So, we look for God and what God is doing.

Joshua was encountering God.  That’s good because he knew that his next step with the Israelites would be a battle.  They were going to need to fight the people of Jericho.  God was going to tell him how.

Now Jericho was shut up inside and outside because of the people of Israel. None went out, and none came in. And the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and mighty men of valor. You shall march around the city, all the men of war going around the city once. Thus shall you do for six days. Seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark. On the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. And when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, when you hear the sound of the trumpet, then all the people shall shout with a great shout, and the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people shall go up, everyone straight before him." (Joshua 6:1-5 ESV)

Joshua sought out God and God met with him face to face.

How about you?  Do you seek out God?  Does God respond by meeting with you?  Do you encounter God in worship services, small group Bible studies, ministry teams, or in quiet time alone with God in prayer?  Do you look for God?
