Provider Designer

It’s one thing to recognize that there is a God who created everything that is seen and unseen.  It’s another thing completely when we realize the implications of that statement.  He who creates it, owns it.  It can get uncomfortable very quickly when we realize that God owns it.  It’s like being the tenant of an apartment.  It’s not really ours.  We may feel like we need to pay security deposit, pay for rent, and take care of it like it’s not our own.  More than that, we realize that our ability to live here is directly dependent on our relationship with the owner.  A bad relationship results in no apartment.

Sing to the LORD with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp. He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills. He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call. His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of the warrior; the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love. (Psalms 147:7-11 NIV)

With God, however, we find the perfect landlord.  He lets us live on the land of His world whether we get along or not.  He even lets us live here whether we acknowledge Him or not.

He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. (Matthew 5:45b NIV)

That’s because God is good even when we are not.  We are God’s children whether we want God as Father or not.  We are His masterpiece whether we see it or not.  A good God knows how to give good gifts to His children…and He does.  He designed us, so He knows what we need.

If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me," even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. (Psalms 139:8-16 NIV)

How about you?  Do you see God as your Designer and Provider?  Are you grateful for the air you breath, water you drink, food you eat, and shelter you have from the storms of life?  Do you sense God?
