Rekindled Spirit

When we realize the Spirit is being quenched in our lives, rekindling the Spirit is as easy as removing those things that currently quench it. You're away from God, with no Spirit within? Return to the Father through the Son and receive the Spirit.

If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9 NIV)

Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38 NIV)

You find yourself wanting to discern the Spirit's leading, but you can't seem to figure it out? Turn to the Spirit's previous revelation to learn to recognize God's voice. Then pray for God to lead you through the Spirit and pray for wisdom and discernment.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV)

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (James 1:5 NIV)

You're fighting spiritual battles in your mind and heart. Fight the enemy and love people through the power of the Spirit.

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (1 John 4:4 NIV)

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. (James 4:7-8a NIV)

You have God's Spirit within you and you know where the Spirit is leading you, but you simply do not obey? Rekindling the Spirit within you is as easy as obeying God. Turn around. Start doing what God is calling you to do. Perhaps you can start by humbling yourself with this prayer...

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you. Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, you who are God my Savior, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness. Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise. You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise. (Psalms 51:10-17 NIV)

How about you?  Have you rekindled God's Spirit within you?
