For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit (1 Peter 3:18 NKJV)
He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Cor 5:21 HCSB)
Even though he never fell, Jesus went down in the pothole. He received the suffering. He received the death. The best news is his reason. He did it for you. He did it for me.
He did not know sin, but he became sin FOR US. He suffered once for sins, the just for the UNJUST. He did this to boost us out of the hole - to bring us back to God. Through him, we are removed from the pothole of sin and death and are lifted up to a new life. Through him, we become the "righteousness of God."
Thank you, Jesus, for showing me how much you love me in this way. Thank you for not staying "up there," but instead coming "down here" to boost me up with God again.
