How Often?

Finally, they cried out to the LORD for help, saying, "We have sinned against You because we have abandoned You as our God and have served the images of Baal." The LORD replied, "Did I not rescue you from the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines, the Sidonians, the Amalekites, and the Maonites? When they oppressed you, you cried out to Me for help, and I rescued you. Yet you have abandoned Me and served other gods. So I will not rescue you anymore. Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen! Let them rescue you in your hour of distress!" (Judges 10:10-14 NLT)

How often do you talk to God?

Is it a part of your daily routine at meal times or before going to bed?  Do you talk to Him throughout your day, asking for wisdom in your conversations with each person?  Is talking with God simply a part of your walk with Him through every moment of every hour throughout every day?

Perhaps it's closer to the other end of the scale.  You hardly talk with God at all.  God makes it onto your list of ones to confide in only as a last resort, when all other options have been exhausted.  Then and only then will you turn to Him to talk about what worries you.  Then you not only talk to Him, but, with a hint of guilt even, you cry out to Him - hoping He will be a forgiving and merciful God.

Wouldn't it be much better if you were already on a first-name basis?  Wouldn't the conversation in crisis be much better if you knew you were approaching a friend you just talked to a little earlier?

The Israelites learned this lesson the hard way.  They ignored God until things got bad.  Then they cried out to Him.  It didn't work out too well for them.  How is it working out for you?
