Rain, Rain...

There the Israelites sang this song: "Spring up, O well! Yes, sing its praises! Sing of this well, which princes dug, which great leaders hollowed out with their scepters and staffs."  (Numbers 21:17-18 NLT)

It's raining outside.  I don't know how this affects you, but it is.
Some enjoy the rain.  They run in it.  They play in it.  They have their first kiss in it.
Some  dislike the rain.  It saddens them.  They sing songs like, "Rain, rain, go away..."
Some are not affected at all.

The farmers in my area are, no doubt, excited about the rain.  Things have been quite dry lately and the crops simply won't grow without water.

Water is necessary for survival and growth.

The Israelites understood this.  They were traveling.  Not only that, they were traveling in the desert.  They needed water.  They needed it now.  Then, God led them to a well filled with water.

Their response?
Sing God's praises!
He provided for their needs.

He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.  (Matthew 5:45b NIV)  In other words, he provides for the needs of everyone - whether we are thankful or not.

Have you thanked Him for providing "rain" today?
