Blessings

Then the LORD said to Moses, "Tell Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing: (Numbers 6:22-23 NLT)

Someone sneezes.  We all say, "God bless you."  It's a simple tradition that continues on from generation to generation.  Whether you say it because you think you are casting out demons, praying for the restart of their stopped heart, or simply saying it because you've "always" said it; the fact is that your words are calling down a blessing on that person.  What a great habit to have.

Asking God to bless someone is a great thing.  It's nearly impossible to hate someone and ask God to bless them at the same time.  Asking God to bless someone forces you to work through any "bad boxes" you may have about them - anger, jealousy, bitterness, unforgiveness, or an unreconciled relationship.  You find yourself living out the instructions Christ gave us.

Bless those who persecute you. Don't curse them; pray that God will bless them. (Romans 12:14 NLT)

So give it a try today.  Begin asking God to bless people in your life.  Bless the waitress who serves you food.  Bless the attendant who serves you at the gas station.  Bless your spouse, your children, and your parents.  When somebody frustrates you at work, ask God to bless them.  It won't just bless them.  It will bless you as well.

'May the LORD bless you and protect you.
May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you.
May the LORD show you His favor and give you His peace.'

Whenever Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in My name,
I Myself will bless them." (Numbers 6:24-27 NLT)
