In Awe of God

"Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding, Who set its measurements? Since you know. Or who stretched the line on it? "On what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone, When the morning stars sang together And all the sons of God shouted for joy? (Job 38:4-7 NASB)

How do you see God?  I ask this question on a regular basis when working with people.  I ask because it's fundamental to our calling to empower one more to walk together with God.  The way we see someone fundamentally affects our relationship with them.  See someone as beautiful, you will want to see them as much as possible.  See someone as frightening, you will run away in fear.  They make you angry, you don't even want to think about them.  They're unimportant?  You don't give them a second thought.  Like I said, the way we see them sets the tone for our relationship with them.

Most the time, we tend to see God too small.  I say this not just because it is impossible to wrap our minds around an eternal, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, spirit-being.  I say it because I can see it in our relationship with God.  We worry about the details of our day because we never think to turn to the only one who experiences what eternity is like.  We strive for knowledge, education, and the perfect internet search engine because we don't think about our best friend having all knowledge about everything.  We fear harm because we don't align ourselves with the only all-powerful one.  We feel alone, afraid, or depressed, because we forget that God is right there with us ready to hold us, help us, and provide what we need.  We see God way too small.

The best days walking with God always begin with reminders that put be in awe of God.  When I see God more like God really is, the details of this life simply fall into place.

I'm praying today that you will be in awe of God.
