Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry. (2 Timothy 4:2-5 NIV)
For as long as I can remember, I've been on a personal journey to find, understand, and follow God. Once I found Him, I couldn't wait to do His bidding. It took a little while longer to finally understand what He wanted from me. When I found out, I began working immediately to do what He called me to do.
You see, for me the journey has been one of figuring things out. My desire has always been to follow Him. Things like world religions, Christian denominational infighting, and outright temptation all worked to make the picture grey and unclear. I've always wanted to see a clear picture, though. And when I saw it, the result was almost inevitable. I followed.
The entries I've been writing about are the results of my personal journey to See Him. My hope was that by writing and teaching these concepts, others would almost inevitably follow as well. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience. People argue, fight, ignore, run away, or (worse yet) take the time to understand then refuse to follow in defiance.
It leaves me with a personal struggle. I've learned that the picture can be clear. I've learned that God's design for our lives is far better than any other alternative that is offered. I've learned that walking together with God is actually much easier than we've been led to believe. Why would anyone want to choose something different? I guess that will still escape me. I'll just keep painting the picture for anyone who is willing to listen...
