I had this on my calendar last Frida...Hello Pete,

I had this on my calendar last Friday, so it was very appropriate when I received your Garden Walk blog on Monday:
"Search for [wisdom] as for hidden treasure;
then you will understand the fear of the Lord." (Proverbs 2:4-5)

Since, I wanted to see more of the scriptures; I looked up the NASB version and found this:
Make your ear attentive to wisdom, Incline your heart to understanding;
For if you cry for discernment, Lift your voice for understanding;
If you seek her as silver And search for her as for hidden treasures;
Then you will discern the fear of the LORD
And discover the knowledge of God. (Proverbs 2:2-5)

I loved that you ended in this scripture verse "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom". It is one of my favorite ones to hear, but I never can remember it. I am praying that by writing this, it will stick to in my mind. When I went to look up that verse, I found a bunch of scripture which reference exactly that; some of which are:

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever." (Psalm 111:10)

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." (Proverbs 9:10)

How sweet it would be, if we could only fear the Lord and remember to keep His commandments. It reminds me that I don’t have to fear the evil one, because if I fear the Lord, I will receive the understanding and discernment needed to fight the evil one.

In the book of Job we learn :
"And to man He said, 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom;
And to depart from evil is understanding’.”
Job 28:28

I think I could go on but I will end with this one:
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge;
Fools despise wisdom and instruction."
Proverbs 1:7

Nobody likes to be being called a fool. I think my name is on that list, so I will work on paying attention and my ears open for His calling.

Thank you for your service and thank you for all you do for God’s kingdom.

Your sister in Christ
ShirleyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2280655111573062109.post-19881811205662398882012-04-11T11:01:21.102-05:002012-04-11T11:01:21.102-05:00I'm glad it was a blessing. I'm challenged by the Hebrews writer to share, because he said:

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near. But, we are people and we too have hurt others and have broken our trust with people by our actions and our words. We ask God for forgiveness, we even sometimes ask those we have hurt for forgiveness and start on a long journey towards regaining trust. This journey can be tiresome and sometimes feel hopeless. Like my dear friend Jeni mentioned above, “where is the hope?”. “Our hope comes from the Lord”; I don’t know if that line comes from the scriptures, but it is from a famous song. Since God made all people and Jesus came for all people, we must not give up on people, because just as we look for forgiveness, so do others. One important factor to remember is that people are different, so they may never ask forgiveness in what we deem to be the right way. Also, we must not let one person who is not seeking forgiveness or redemption, stop us from caring for the rest of the flock.

Here are some of scriptures I picked out from a list I got when I did a google search on "What does the Bible say abour Caring" (http://www.openbible.info/topics/caring):

If we are to be disciples of Jesus Christ, we must do as He commands us to do in.
In John 13:34, Jesus gives us a new commandment; He says, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
We can Love one another by caring for one another.

In his letter to the Galatians, Paul writes- “Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.” Galatians 6:9-10

Another Bible verse I found on Caring is “But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.” 1Timothy 5:4 Here we learn that caring for our own family is pleasing to God. As a disciple of Jesus, I most definitely do not want to give up caring but keep on “Caring” because it pleases our Father in Heaven.

We see further in 1 Timothy 5:8 – “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”
We don’t want to be worse than an unbeliever, so as Jesus has commanded us to do, we will love one another and be pleasing in the eyes of our God. For God has already shown us His great love for us through His son Jesus.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16
If we are to be disciples of Jesus, we must overcome our personal hurts and feeling that people inflict on us.
So my friend, my brother “if you don’t give up caring, I won’t.”Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2280655111573062109.post-36534507451665302472012-03-17T19:15:39.177-05:002012-03-17T19:15:39.177-05:00We are working on that, I promise. :)We are working on that, I promise. :)KimberlyMorsehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03750736858042275877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2280655111573062109.post-87632732283398807682012-03-17T11:34:29.515-05:002012-03-17T11:34:29.515-05:00;);)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00483504014213941146noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2280655111573062109.post-10249240204317884912012-03-16T21:51:02.618-05:002012-03-16T21:51:02.618-05:00If we all gave up, where is the hope?
